All City Car Rental suppliers offer a national break down service. Please ask for local phone number & for more information at time of rental

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
This waives the renter's liability for damage caused only to the hired vehicle if it is involved in a collision. This waiver carries a excess/deductible or liability of a certain amount. For example; in France it starts from € 450 upward depending on the type of vehicle. This waiver often excludes tyres, glass (windows etc) & towing depending on the Country of rental.

Liability Insurance also known as Third Party Insurance.
This is the very minimum insurance you need by law in most countries to drive. It covers the renter’s liability for any damage caused to other people or other people’s property. It is generally caped or limited to a maximum of € 1,000,000.00. This is very limited insurance which may have an excess depending on which country you are driving in.  The liability insurance also known as third party insurance is included in ALL City Car Rentals car hire quotes.

Cancellations
If the booking is cancelled within 7 days 48 hrs of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before pick up time, all funds will be reimbursed. If the booking is cancelled outside 7 days 48 hrs of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before the pick up time, all funds except a cancellation fee of EUR 25 and the card processing fee (where applicable), will be reimbursed.
If the booking is cancelled less than 48 hours before the pick up time, no funds will be reimbursed./ If the booking is cancelled less than 48 hours before the pick up time, we will retain 3 days rental and the card processing fee (where applicable) No refunds will be given if you fail to collect the vehicle at your specified time or if you fail to meet the driving license, passport, credit card or other documentation requirements outlined in this voucher. Neither do we provide refunds for vehicles returned early
This change is applicable to pre-paid, part-paid and pre-paid deposit bookings.
It is the responsibility of the consumer to personally cancel any other ancillary product that they may have purchased in conjunction (Side by side) with their vehicle reservation, i.e. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER EXCESS REIMBURSEMENT INSURANCE through third parties like insurance4carhire . In the event that you cancel or amend a credit/debit card booking City Car Rentals  will not be liable for any monetary losses suffered by you as a result of a change in monetary exchange rates between the time of your original booking and its subsequent cancellation or amendment (as applicable).

Premium Location/Airport Fee
It is now common with most Airport & City Car Rental companies to charge a location fee for collection at a premium location.
The premium location/airport fee is included in ALL City Car Rentals car hire quotes.

Our price promise refers to rates that can be seen and verified from the Internet. It does not apply to any non-internet offers or offers available to people who hold special discount codes or numbers that are not available to the public.

Road Fund Tax (RFT)
Or Vehicle licensing Fee ( VLF ). It is now common with most rental companies to charge a road fund tax.
 
Unlimited Mileage (or Kilometres)
Some car rentals companies charge for excessive mileage or kilometres to cover accelerated depreciation.

VAT -Valued Added Tax Local Tax
VAT is a government tax on car rental. It is a percentage (%) tax which varies from country to country

Vehicle Theft Waver (VTW)
This waives the renter's liability for theft or attempted theft of the rented vehicle only. This waiver may carry an excess/deductible or liability depending on the vehicle and country of rental.

Your car rental agreement normally includes cover for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft. However you are still liable for the Excess on CDW and Theft. When a rental car is damaged or stolen, the driver is SOMETIMES (see terms and conditions) asked to pay the first portion of the repair or replacement costs. This is known as the Excess.

What documentation do I need on collection of car?

On collection of your vehicle you need:
- your rental voucher (which you will have received by email when your reservation was confirmed),
- A full valid driver's licence held for a minimum of 2 years and
- a major credit card in the driver's name.
An International driving licence/permit is only acceptable as supplementary ID when supplied with a licence from your country of permanent residence.

Please note: City Car Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle.
City Car Rentals can not be held responsible for rentals rejected if you do not present your voucher at rental desk. You must retain all your rental documents if you have a query regarding your reservation.

 

When is a booking confirmed?

A reservation is only confirmed once credit card details have been supplied and you receive a reservation voucher from City Car Rentals Rentals. This voucher must be produced on collection of your vehicle.

Please note: City Car Rentals Rentals are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the local agent on collection of the vehicle

 

Is it possible to reserve a specific make/model of vehicle?

City Car Rentals will make every effort to supply the reserved model of vehicle. However, it is impossible for us to guarantee that a specific make and model will be provided. If the make/model of vehicle that you booked is not available then the rental agent will supply a suitable alternative from the same vehicle group classification or from a larger group.

When do I pay for additional extras?

Please note that all additional extras (including child seats, additional drivers, special equipment etc) are all paid for at the local rental office on collection of the vehicle.

How much deposit is required when booking vehicle?

For the majority of online bookings, 20% of the rental is taken as the confirmation deposit. However, in some cases depending on country or availability the full rental amount is taken. Further information can be found in the Rental Conditions.

What do I do in the event of an accident?

Please contact the office from which you hired the vehicle. You will find the contact information on your voucher and/or your rental agreement.
The renter will be required to inform the rental agent immediately of any accident.
The renter must take the following measures:

- Obtain complete details of the persons involved in the accident as well as of any possible witnesses.
- Immediately provide the rental agent with all the details regarding the accident, which may be of use.
- Immediately notify the authorities if the third party should be investigated or in the event of injured persons.
- Do not leave the vehicle without taking correct measures to protect and safeguard it.
